The Data Migration Engineer is responsible for extracting, cleansing, transforming, and validating data from Xpedeon ERP and related legacy systems, preparing it for structured upload into SAP S/4HANA.
This role ensures data accuracy, semantic consistency, and completeness across all business domains (e.g., Projects, Procurement, Finance, Assets, and Materials) to enable a seamless transition to SAP.
Responsibilities:
1. Data Extraction & Analysis
• Extract master and transactional data from Xpedeon and associated databases.
• Analyze data structures, relationships, and dependencies between Xpedeon and SAP data models.
• Profile legacy data to identify gaps, duplicates, and inconsistencies.
2. Data Cleansing & Standardization
• Apply business rules and data quality checks to cleanse and enrich extracted data.
• Standardize naming conventions, codes, and units of measure across entities.
• Work with business owners to validate corrections and align with SAP master data standards.
3. Data Transformation & Mapping
• Design and execute transformation logic to map Xpedeon fields to corresponding SAP data objects (e.g., Material Master, Vendor, Project Definition, Cost Center, Purchase Request, Purchase Order, Open Items etc.).
• Develop and document data mapping templates, transformation scripts, and conversion rules.
• Apply data imputation techniques where required to fill missing or incomplete attributes.
4. Data Validation & Reconciliation
• Conduct data validation against business rules and SAP upload templates.
• Perform record count and value reconciliation between Xpedeon extracts and SAP load files.
• Collaborate with functional consultants to perform mock loads and verify data correctness post-upload.
5. Automation & Tooling
• Utilize ETL tools (e.g., SAP Data Services, SSIS, Alteryx, Python, Excel Power Query) for data cleansing and transformation.
• Create reusable data cleansing and transformation pipelines.
• Implement validation scripts and reports to automate quality checks.
6. Documentation & Governance
• Maintain detailed documentation of data mapping, transformation logic, and validation rules.
• Support audit and traceability by maintaining version-controlled migration files.
• Continuously report Metrics to stakeholders on mock exercises and final cutover.
• Timely escalate any bottleneck or challenges in progress.
