Key Responsibility Areas
• Responsible and accountable for driving heavy truck to transport and deliver cargo
• Responsible and accountable for maintaining radio or telephone contact with base or supervisor to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.
• Responsible and accountable for witnessing the loading and unloading of cargo in his truck and ensuring that they are in good condition
• Responsible and accountable for ensuring that the number of pallets tally with customer shipping documents.
• Responsible and accountable for positioning blocks and tying ropes around items to secure cargo for transport.
• Responsible and accountable for ensuring that only accurate PODs are signed by the customer and the driver.
• Responsible and accountable for keeping vehicle clean, checking the condition of vehicles tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment to ensure that everything is in working order.
• Responsible for reporting any vehicle malfunctions or needed repairs.
• Responsible and accountable for complying with traffic regulations to operate vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
• Maintains knowledge of first-aid procedures.
• Prepares and submits reports that may include the number trips, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption.
• Responsible for reporting delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

Competencies
· Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by road, including the relative costs and benefits.
· Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
· Ability to control operations of equipment or system
· Ability to watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
· Ability to perform routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
· Ability to read written instructions.
