Power Production Technician (USN)

Job Summary:
As the Power Production Technician at Al Udeid Airforce Base in Qatar, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of prime power generation and power distribution to on-base facilities. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and unwavering commitment to safety. You will be responsible to operate and maintain a density of equipment that include Gas- and Diesel-powered generators, ATS and MTS switches, and refueling support of power generation equipment. The Power Production Technician will be responsible respond to the base within a two hour notification to interface with authorized U.S. Government personnel.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Responsible to manage resources and activities devoted to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generating and control systems.
- Maintain strict compliance to to all applicable PWS requirements, host nation laws, and compliance to all U.S Department of Defense and U.S. Department of State requirements, as applicable.
- Technical Expertise:
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and functionality.
- Must maintain strict compliance to all applicable PWS contractual requirements, and contractual performance must meet or exceed all manufacturer’s specifications, and/or applicable references.
- Responsible to operate, maintain, and repair all USG provided generators, transfer switches, fuel tanks, cabling and any other equipment needed to support the governments requests of generators and spot generators providing prime power for mission requirements.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Train and educate team members on safety best practices, activity hazard analysis.
- Responsible to manage accumulation of Hazardous waste and materials and issues, receipts, and storage of all commodities of POL/ Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricants.

- Reporting and Documentation:
- Demonstratable work experience to verify ability to document status of all generators using the AF719 Historical Record - Diesel-Electric Generator and System, and AF487 Generator Operating Log (Inspection Checklist).
- Reporting to include required ‘Outage Reports’ and other ad-hoc reports as required.
- Qualifications:
- Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English and have knowledge of: Principles of electronics and electricity, including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution; interpreting instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines, generators, generating plants, distribution panels, and accessory equipment; use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; grounding practices, environmental policies; principles of management; and operation and repair of electrical power production systems.
- Work experience operating and maintaining generators ranging from 5 to 4,300 kilowatts is required.
- Education, Experience, and required credentials.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the electrical power generation field.
- Must be a Journeyman or Master Electrician with valid Electrician certification and license issued by a recognized credentialing authority within any recognized U.S state or recognized U.S. Territory and be in current expiration period. (In accordance with NFPA 70,70E, 110, and 111).
- Provide evidence of passing the International Code Council (ICC) national journeyman or master certification exam, as applicable for either Journeyman and or Master Electricians.
- Experience with operating and maintaining generators ranging from 5 to 4,300 kilowatts required.
- Must have a valid passport and must be able to meet all requirements to obtain residency work visa.
- Must successfully pass CENTCOM medical requirements and be fit-for-duty to immediately deploy.
- Must have a valid driver’s license in current expiration from any recognized U.S state or U.S Territory.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to complete all local requirements for Flight Line Driving Certification during the transition period and must maintain Flight Line Driving Certification during their employment period.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with team members and stakeholders, while providing excellent customer service, and ability to multi-task operate under stressful conditions within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Security Clearance: Secret Clearance Required.
- US Citizenship is required and must possess and maintain required Secret clearance eligibility for this position while employed in support of this contract.
- Austere Working Conditions
- The candidate must be able to perform in inclement weather conditions; to include heat extreme temperatures.
- Must be able to perform job duties in personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
