Job Brief
The role focuses on Visual Inspection, Dimensional Inspection, and PMI (Positive Material Identification) to ensure products meet international standards, customer requirements, and company quality procedures. The Process Inspector supports production and QA/QC teams, as well as customer representatives, by identifying nonconformities and ensuring that only conforming products are released.
Key Responsibilities
Visual Inspection
Inspect outer and inner surfaces of pipes and tubes for cracks, dents, scratches, and corrosion.
Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming materials.
Dimensional Inspection
Measure outer diameter, wall thickness, length, straightness, ovality, and end preparation.
Use calibrated inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Record inspection results and compare them with ITP requirements.
PMI Inspection
Perform Positive Material Identification using XRF and OES spectrometers.
Verify material grade and chemical composition against MTC and customer specifications when required.
Report material mismatches and segregate nonconforming products.
Documentation & Reporting
Enter inspection results into the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to ensure traceability.
Upload and maintain inspection reports in MES as required.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and completeness to support audits.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with HSE standards during inspection activities.
Use appropriate PPE while working in storage yards and production areas.
Report unsafe conditions or improper handling practices immediately.
Nonconformance Handling
Segregate and report nonconforming products.
Maintain rejected material records and ensure proper identification and tagging.
Traceability & Record Keeping
Ensure accurate heat and lot number traceability from receiving through production release.
Maintain inspection records, test reports, and logbooks in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
Coordination & Support
Support the Foreman by providing consolidated inspection records for audits.
Coordinate with customer representatives or third-party inspectors during witness or hold points.
Requirements & Skills
Minimum Diploma in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience in final inspection, preferably within the steel or alloy industry.
Knowledge of stainless steel and nickel alloy grades, heat treatment processes, and metallurgical properties.
Familiarity with international standards including ASTM, ASME, EN, ISO, PED, and Aramco specifications.
Certification in NDT methods such as UT or ECT is an added advantage.
Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015).
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Proficiency in MS Office and MES software.
High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality.
