PRIMARY OBJECTIVEThe primary objective of the Marine Electrician Class 1 is to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of all electrical systems on the fleet vessels, including tug boats, pilot boats, and mooring boats. This role is critical in providing 24/7 technical support to minimize downtime of fleet, maintain high safety standards, and ensure reliable service delivery for operations of port Jebel Ali.Major Activities/Deliverables· Inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems on fleet tugs, pilot boats, and mooring boats.· Perform regular maintenance checks and troubleshoot electrical issues.· Install, test, and commission new electrical equipment.· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.· Keep detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.· Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient operations.· Provide support on day and night shift to address and resolve technical issues promptly.· Maintaining high standards of housekeeping in workshop and P&O base· Ensuring all measurement equipments and tools are in working condition and available when required.· Carry out duties without direct supervision when necessary thereby ensuring smooth flow of marine operations.Performance Measures· Percentage of maintenance tasks completed on schedule. Quality and completeness of repair work as evidenced by follow-up inspections.· Response time to troubleshooting requests. Success rate in diagnosing and resolving electrical issues on the first attempt.· Number of commissioning tasks completed without need for rework.· Number of safety audits passed without violations.· Accuracy and completeness of maintenance and repair logs. Timeliness in updating records after completing tasks.· Contribution to team problem-solving and operational efficiency. Level of coordination and communication with team members.· Response time to emergency support calls. Satisfaction rating from vessel’s crew for support services. Number of technical issues resolved within a specified time-frame.· Regular completion of housekeeping tasks. Cleanliness and organization of the workshop and base areas.· Regular checks and maintenance of tools and equipment. Availability of tools and equipment as needed for tasks. Number of incidents where work was delayed due to unavailable or malfunctioning tools.· Number of tasks completed without supervisory intervention.KEY CHALLENGES· Ensuring that electrical systems on all fleet vessels remain functional 24/7 to avoid disruptions in port operations.· Rapidly responding to and resolving unexpected electrical failures or issues· Working on different types of vessels (tug boats, pilot boats, mooring boats) with unique electrical systems and requirements.· Performing duties in various weather conditions and at different times of day or night.· Keeping up-to-date with industry safety regulations and standards.· Implementing and maintaining high safety standards in all electrical maintenance and repair tasks.· Managing time efficiently to balance routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and new installations.· Performing tasks without direct supervision while ensuring high quality and efficiency.· Making critical decisions independently during emergencies or when supervisors are not available.· Communicating clearly about technical issues and repair needs with non-technical staff.· As a member of shore workshop team, take part in other assignments (docking and other activities) when required.
