A Chainman is responsible for operating a surveyor's chain to measure distances and elevations on construction projects.
Responsible for setting out lines and levels, recording measurements, and helping surveyors with other tasks.
Chainman will work under the guidance of a surveying manager and assist in boundary calculations and drafting legal descriptions.
Perform GPS staking of property corners and layouts for new construction, prepare and operate electronic distance-measuring instruments and GPS receivers, and support ordnance excavations by mapping out anomalies within survey areas.
Responsible for assisting with boundary calculations and routine activities involved in land surveying for the Infrastructure Development Unit.
Measure and record lengths and angles of survey lines using survey-grade instruments
Calculate linear and angular measurements and check accuracy of survey data
Record data from field observations using surveying instruments, such as total stations and theodolites
Maintain surveying equipment
Assist surveyors in collecting survey data
Carry out site surveys and set out boundaries
Check the survey data and make corrections as necessary
