Electrical Design Engineer - HV Substation Projects

Turner Lovell is a specialist recruitment partner for high-voltage transmission and energy infrastructure projects across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. We are currently supporting a global engineering, construction and project delivery firm involved in major energy infrastructure programs across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
To support the development of new grid infrastructure and transmission assets, we are looking for a Electrical Design Engineer, with a strong background in HV substation design and layout. Someone one 380kV, 220kV or 132kV substation experience and knowledge of SEC standards is the ideal candidate. We are searching for a Saudi national who has a passion for HV substation design and the desire to work on significant infrastructure projects in the region.
Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and optimise primary design layouts for high-voltage substations (230kv and above), considering space constraints, operational access, and safety requirements
- Select and integrate key substation components such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, conductors, clamps, and insulators
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, and SEC grid codes)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, automation, protection, and systems engineers
- Support procurement and project delivery teams with technical specifications, drawings, and documentation
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and progress updates
