Roles & Responsibilities
- The competent physical documented assessment ( using all sources to hand including
observation and communication), and subsequent preparation of appropriate
treatment for a patient's skin care needs based on good clinical knowledge,
experience, and consultation with a dermatologist / physician
- The trained and competent use of laser machines for the purpose of hair removal as
recognized by the certification of the Dermatologists in CosmeSurge
- Provides up-to-date and sanctioned knowledge and empathic support for clients who
wish to, or those who need to, undergo hair removal treatment (including permanent
hair reduction, laser skin resurfacing, and vascular lesions with the Dermatologist).
This may include laser tattoo removal
- The treatment and care of skin pre and post procedure and surgery including the
identification of wounds, types and stages of healing, and the necessity of informing
and working with medical practitioners should the case indicate
- The treatment and care of facial skin to maintain and improve its appearance,
including understanding about the sun and its effect on the skin.
- The provision, based on competence, of pain relief and stress reduction and anxiety
reduction techniques prior to procedures provided by a dermatologist
- Ensures timely and accurate documentation of all procedures including detailed
informed consents, and patient education regarding equipment and skin care protocols
- The provision of safe, independent, high quality care, in the hospital / outpatient, and
surgical office setting, under the auspices and adhering to Standard precautions,
occupational health, and environment and safety standards as mandated by CSEH,
and HAAD, and including particular attention to the prevention and control of
infections.
- Is competent to handle all cleaning and decontamination procedures as required for
any instruments / bits and pieces of equipment used, in conjunction with strict
Infection Control practices, and support from CSSD. Ensures cleanliness of clinic at
start and during sessions
- Anticipates, recognizes, and manages emergencies, and unsafe situations and
practice, initiating appropriate and timely interventions.
- Performs all duties in a professional and confidential manner.
