Overseeing the operation, management, and maintenance of utility systems within the manufacturing facility. The Utility Manager will be responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted supply of utilities such as electricity, water, steam, effluent water treatment, compressed air, and other essential services critical to the manufacturing process and supporting services. The role will be accountable for effective management of all managed assets onsite, optimizing the operating cost of all utility equipment and overseeing the maintenance of all external retail shops, stores, warehouses at different locations.
In my job, I am accountable for:
Utility System Management: Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of utility systems to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. Enhancement and development of preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan. Monitoring utility consumption and devise and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency. Supporting the enhancement and development of spares parts management strategies based on equipment criticality to ensure uptime whilst maintaining a minimum possible spare parts inventory. Team Leadership: Leading a team of utility technicians and operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback. Fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the utility team. Delegating tasks effectively and ensuring proper staffing to meet operational requirements. Emergency Response: Developing and implementing emergency response plans for utility-related incidents to minimize disruptions and mitigate risks. Coordinating with emergency services and internal teams to respond effectively to emergencies such as power outages, equipment failures, or utility leaks. Budget and Cost Management: Developing and managing the utility budget, including forecasting, tracking expenses, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Evaluating utility contracts, negotiate technical terms with suppliers, and assist to optimize procurement strategies to control costs. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring all utility operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. Conducting regular inspections and audits of utility systems to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Implementing corrective actions and improvements to enhance safety and regulatory compliance. Supporting the companies sustainability initiatives and actively participate in the strategy creation for reduction of scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. Complying with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment regulations and working practices of KDD and the State of Kuwait when carrying out duties.
