JOB SUMMARY / SCOPE:
The Music Teacher at Beit Fann Arts & Music Studio is responsible for teaching music theory, performance techniques, and specific instruments to students of all ages and skill levels. The role involves developing tailored lesson plans, inspiring a love of music, and guiding students in their artistic growth. The Music Teacher will play a crucial role in fostering a creative and educational environment that supports the musical development of individuals and groups.
RESPONSIBIITIES
- Teaching & Instruction:
- Teach music theory, instrument techniques (such as piano, guitar, violin, etc.), and performance skills to students ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
- Develop individualized lesson plans that cater to the specific needs and goals of each student.
- Instruct students on proper practice techniques, ensuring a balance between theory and practical performance.
- Prepare students for recitals, performances, and examinations as required.
- Lesson Planning & Curriculum Development:
- Create structured, engaging, and age-appropriate lesson plans and teaching materials.
- Develop a music curriculum that aligns with the studio’s goals and students' progress.
- Stay current with the latest teaching methodologies and incorporate them into lessons when appropriate.
- Adjust teaching methods and techniques based on student progress, challenges, and feedback.
3. Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring:
- Assess students' musical abilities and track their progress through regular evaluations and feedback.
- Provide constructive feedback to students and parents, highlighting areas of improvement and accomplishments.
- Adapt lessons based on the pace of student development, ensuring each student progresses according to their potential.
- Maintain records of student progress and achievements for studio reporting and feedback to parents.
4. Performance Preparation & Guidance:
- Organize and prepare students for studio recitals, performances, and concerts.
- Encourage students to develop stage confidence, performance etiquette, and musical expression.
- Provide one-on-one guidance and coaching for students preparing for music competitions or exams.
5. Classroom Management & Student Engagement:
- Create a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for students of all ages and backgrounds.
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and a passion for music in the classroom.
- Ensure discipline, respect, and focus during lessons, promoting an atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Manage group lessons or ensemble work when necessary, fostering collaboration and teamwork among students.
6. Instrument Care & Studio Maintenance:
- Instruct students on the proper care and maintenance of their instruments.
- Ensure the studio’s instruments and music equipment are in good working condition and properly stored.
- Report any issues with instruments or equipment to the Studio Manager and assist in keeping the music room clean and organized.
7. Professional Development & Collaboration:
- Stay updated with developments in the music education field, including new teaching methods, technology, and repertoire.
- Collaborate with other music teachers and studio staff to improve the overall music program.
- Attend staff meetings, professional development workshops, and other studio-related activities.
- Participate in studio events, workshops, and masterclasses, contributing to the broader artistic community at Beit Fann.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in music, Music Education, or a related field.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience teaching music, preferably in a classroom or private studio setting.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of artists, instructors, and students.
- Proficiency in teaching at least one instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, violin, etc.); multi-instrument proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to teach music theory, sight-reading, and performance techniques.
- Experience working with students of various ages and skill levels.
- Knowledge of musical performance and concert preparation.
