Project Manager - Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)

Job Summary:
The Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of ITS projects, focusing on traffic signalization and intersection construction. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in transportation systems and strong project management skills to oversee complex, multi-disciplinary projects from conception to completion.
The Project Manager is accountable for the financial outcomes of the project, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity while adhering to the overarching project goals and key performance indicators.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Development:
- Initiate, plan, and define project scope and objectives based on business requirements and company goals.
- Develop detailed project plans using Primavera or Microsoft Project to track progress and adjust as needed.
- Team Leadership and Stakeholder Management:
- Lead and coordinate project teams comprising internal staff, consultants, and contractors.
- Communicate effectively with all project stakeholders, including sponsors, team members, and external partners, to ensure alignment and address any issues.
- Resource and Risk Management:
- Manage the resource allocation and ensure availability and allocation are aligned with project needs.
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to manage risks effectively.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure project deliverables meet the quality standards and compliance requirements specific to ITS projects.
- Implement quality assurance processes and conduct regular reviews to meet both internal standards and external regulatory compliance.
- Budget Management and Reporting:
- Oversee project budget, ensuring financial objectives are met by monitoring expenses and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, risks, and financials to senior management and stakeholders.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical and/or Electronics, or related field.
- Minimum 10+ years proven experience in project management, specifically in ITS or related fields, with a focus on traffic signalization and intersection construction.
- Expertise in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), encompassing technologies such as Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Microwave Vehicle Detection (RVD), Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), License Plate Recognition Systems (LPR), Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL), SCADA systems, and Fiber Optics.
- Strong leadership skills and experience in stakeholder management and team leadership.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software, especially Primavera or Microsoft Project.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
- The Project Manager should be proficient in various software tools including AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Word, and other relevant specialized applications.
- Additionally, the candidate should possess extensive experience within the UAE industry and have a thorough understanding of local authority requirements such as those from the Department of Transport (DOT), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and others.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; fluency in Arabic is considered desirable.
