Job Description

  • Assess, Plan, implement and evaluates care according to the age and culture in an effective and organized manner.
  • Provides nutritional assessment and specialized feeding for the infant transitioning to extra uterine life.
  • Complies with established Nursing Department Policies and Procedures.
  • Monitors and adjust specialized equipment used on patient such as ventilator, incubator, warmer etc.
  • Competent in handling and assisting the infant with central line peripheral line umbilical artery line etc.
  • Assess and monitor infant with exchange transfusion.
  • Educating the mother about natural childbirth technique and promote mother and Child bonding.
  • Competent to demonstrate newborn cardio-pulmonary resuscitation technique.
  • Competent in calculation of newborn drug dosage and administration.
  • Maintain and update all relevant patient documentations/medical records as per hospital policy and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient’s records.
  • Administer drugs/medications as per doctor’s orders.
  • Participates in the rehabilitation and discharge planning of patients/families.
  • Follows the reporting mechanisms/chain of command in the Nursing Department.
  • Ensuring patient care issues are correctly and quickly reported.
  • Takes responsibility for professional clinical practice and is actively involved in updating and continuing education.
  • Attends and participates in Ward/Unit meetings.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities within nursing department.
  • Follows the instruction of the medical team when caring for high risk eg.                                Pre-term babies.
  • Educating the patient about natural childbirth technique and promote mother and child bonding.
  • Competent to demonstrate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation technique.
  • Monitor hospital environment for compliance with Infection Control policy and Procedure.
  • Demonstrate awareness of fire/equipment hazards and the necessary precaution to be activated as per hospital policy.
  • Adherent the practice of Prescription Order Review
  • Responsible for daily checking of crash carts and emergency equipments as per      hospital policy.
  • Maintain HAZMAT inventory and MSDS in the department with coordination of FMS team
  • Maintain hand hygiene and infection control documents
  • To Informs Head Nurse / Shift In charge any issues or concerns Immediately
  • Follow the protocol of handover communication during shift change, shifting the patient to other department and diagnostic procedure
  • Maintain the cleanliness of department following infection control protocols
  • Make sure the patient and families are involved in Health Education
  • Follow the protocol of patient identification while administering medication , blood transfusion , procedure etc
  • To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
