Experience
• Be responsible for providing and coordinating patient care, educating
patients and the public about various health conditions, and providing
advice and emotional support to patients and their family members.
• Assess and identify patients' needs and implement and monitor the
patient's medical plan and treatment. They will work with a team of
physicians and other health care specialists or allied health in various
settings
• Perform systematic patient assessment and collect pertinent data about

• Checks thoroughly the pre-operative checklist of patient; including
completion of required diagnostic & laboratory procedures
• Monitors patients’ vital signs in the pre-operative area and post-operative
recovery room
• Positions patient with the use of positional aids, maintaining circulatory,
respiratory, neuromuscular homeostasis while maintaining privacy and
providing maximum exposure to the operative procedure
• Demonstrates skill in performing the duties of scrub nurse and circulating
nurse
• Provides safety to patient, to self & the whole surgical team by adopting
safety protocols like ‘Time Out’.
• Counts Surgical items audibly, and views items concurrently with another
individual when counting, and recognizes that one of the individuals
performing the count should be the RN circulator.
• Recognizes that, when possible, surgical counts during a procedure
should be performed by the same two individuals.
• Verifies correct recording of the surgical counts of soft goods, sharps,
miscellaneous items, and items placed in the wound in a location that is
visible to the surgical team (e.g., the white count board).
• Implements correct practices for the prevention of infection, practicing
strict aseptic technique & maintenance of sterile field.
• Assist the surgeon and anesthetist during the operation and ensure
appropriate handling of the specimen obtained during surgery.
• Organize patient transportation from the OT to the recovery room and
carry-out and/or supervise all the postoperative activities to prepare the
OT for the next scheduled operation or emergency.
• Implement the hygiene, sterilization, asepsis and disinfection protocols
and procedures at all times, before, during and after operations, to
ensure the safety conditions of patients and staff. 3.17Participate in care
and maintenance of endoscopes, electrosurgical unit, microscopes, drill
systems, phacco machine, endoscopes and other specialized
equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination at all times
including accurate records of traceability of all equipment. 3.18
Accurately maintain count of all surgical instruments, swabs and needles
used during the surgery and ensure that the surgical instruments are
send to CSSD for cleaning and disinfection as per the policy of the
hospital.
• Demonstrate skill in surgical hand wash and appropriate knowledge of
the infection control practices pertaining to operating theatre.
• Competent in monitoring of patients post anesthesia.
• Ensure that patients recovering from anesthesia receive optimum care
and is able to demonstrate complete knowledge in the usage of Aldrete
scoring.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient’s records and updates all relevant
patient documentation / medical records as per hospital policy and
procedure.
• Demonstrates competence in Cardio – Pulmonary Resuscitation
technique
• Strictly adheres to the waste segregation and disposal as per hospital
policy.
OSHAD:
• Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and
procedures and cooperate with hospital management to comply with
those requirements
• Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and
instructions, specific responsibilities
• Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and
assistance with the preparation of risk assessments, incident reports.
• Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
• Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills
and awareness programs.
• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
