Purpose and Scope of the Job
Handles all medical and internal medical cases in the department and in patient’s wards according to policies and procedures of the Department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
1
Interviews all patients presenting to the ER, provided they fulfill formalities of the ER according to the policy and procedures
2
Performs and master the first aid management of different medical emergencies according to policies and procedures
3
Notifies the Consultant or Specialist on duty about the details of clinical data if the patients need admission and discuss with him the plan of management
4
Takes patient’s history; conducts physical examinations, requests and interprets necessary investigations as the patient’s condition mandates and provides the treatment plans for all patients before transfer to the ward.

Notifies the outside doctors about the details of clinical data of their patients and follow their instructions about the management plan
6
Performs a routine ward round for all patients knowing their complaints and according to policy and procedures of individual case
7
Registrar the clinical data and any change in treatment instructions in the patient file. (writing the time and date).

Ward rounds at least once in routine cases and according to special instructions in certain cases (according to policy and procedures)
9
Completes the clinical notes of the ER files and handover of cases between the two successive shifts with all clinical details

Decides and issues sick leave, according to MOH regulations and policies of DASH
11
Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care needs
12
Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Emergency Room Department Policy and Guidelines.

Promotes and participates in the departmental and hospital educational and training programs and clinical audits.

Accepts all other additional assignments found necessary by the Head of Department

Knowledge and ability to use hospital computer systems. Training on SAP and It systems.
Qualifications, Competences and Skills
Education
MBBS and Master Degree
Experience
1 year of experience after Master’s degree
Licensure
Valid Kuwait medical License
Language
Well versed in English and Arabic
Computer Proficiency
Good computer skills

Good communication skills

Knowledge of Required Organizational practices /patient safety standards.

Command over professional code of ethics , medical bylaws

Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital

Culturally competent ( Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs)
6
AHA certified Basic Life support provider
