Mission

Work as a Resident Civil Engineer to deliver the Owner Engineer’s mission. Manage the Civil

Engineering portfolio of the power substations, cables and Transmission lines project including

the Technical, HSE and Financial performance of the projects.

The work will involve the site supervision/management of complex technical works of the Client

(TRANSCO), alongside the management of customer interfaces.

Reporting Lines

This role reports to Product Manager T&D, and operationally to the Principal Resident Engineer or

coordinator Resident Engineer of the project.

The role will require to support the site/Head office efforts of this project and may also require to

support site/head office efforts of the other projects in the region.

Job Functions (DUTIES & Responsibilities)

• Undertake site surveys, data collection, co-ordinate with all stakeholders

• Review design, shop drawings, conduct technical meetings as and when required

• Construction Works of Substations, Cables and Overhead Transmission Lines (preferably

EHV & HV)

• Supervision of soil investigations, geotechnical, geophysical, etc.

• Piling works in different soil conditions and Pile Tests

• Corrosion Protection and Painting Requirements, Procedures and Applications

• Testing of Civil materials in Laboratories

• Preparation of Platforms and Access Roads

• Conducting Site and Progress Meetings

• Controlling & Certification of Civil Works progress

• Close co-ordination with all other disciplines of the project

• Follow up of progress and reporting

• Progress Certification of Contractor´s works on monthly basis

Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Requirement

• Actively participating in all HSE activities like HSE induction, HSE training, Communication

and Consultation, HSE monitoring and reporting Hazards and incidents at site.

• Monitoring and coordinating all HSE aspects and ensuring that risks and hazards are

reduced to as low as reasonably practicable, (Refer. AD EHSMS RF-Element-02-Risk

management).

• Ensuring that information is provided to the Client / TRACTEBEL HO on residual risks and

hazards by the main contractor.

• Monitoring the principal contractor and subcontractor compliance to all regulatory and site

HSE requirements and notifying the principal contractor of all hazards and HSE non-

compliances identified on site.

• Periodically reporting to the Client / TRACTEBEL HO the HSE performance and compliance

of the main contractor and subcontractor as per requirements of AD EHSMS RF-Element

07-Monitoring, Investigation & Reporting.

• Periodically monitor the HSE compliance of the principal contractor to ensure compliance

to all regulatory and HSE requirements and reporting the findings to the Client /TRACTEBEL

HO.

• Immediately notify the Client / TRACTEBEL HO about any continued non-conformances or

serious HSE violations from the contractors and ensure zero tolerance on these issues and

record all findings and instructions from Client / TRACTEBEL HO.
