Position Overview: The Business Development Manager (BDM) for Freight Forwarding (Air and Sea) will be responsible for driving growth and expanding the company's market presence within the logistics and transportation sector. The ideal candidate will identify new business opportunities, build and maintain relationships with clients, and work closely with internal teams to ensure service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Analysis:
- Identify and analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in the freight forwarding industry.
- Develop strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities
- Client Acquisition:
- Generate leads through networking, cold calling, and industry events.
- Conduct presentations and meetings with potential clients to showcase services.
Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and concerns.
Proposal Development:
- Prepare and present tailored logistics solutions and proposals that meet client requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate pricing and service capabilities.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with operations, pricing, and marketing teams to align business development efforts with company goals.
- Coordinate with freight carriers and partners to optimize service offerings.
Performance Tracking:
- Monitor sales performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to achieve targets.
Industry Networking:
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to represent the company and build brand awareness.
- Stay informed about industry regulations, trends, and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in business development or sales within the freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation sectors with atleast 3 x salary in GP.
- Strong understanding of air and sea freight processes and regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
