The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the financial activities related to our shipping operations. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, managing tax compliance, and providing critical financial insights to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within the shipping or logistics industry and a thorough understanding of maritime accounting practices.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Cost Accounting: Oversee the cost accounting processes related to shipping operations, including vessel operating expenses, fuel costs, port fees, and cargo handling charges.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations, including VAT, customs duties, and other shipping-related taxes.
- Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank statements, and balance sheets, with a focus on shipping-related transactions.
- Audit Coordination: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations, particularly in areas related to shipping finance.
- Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis and insights on shipping performance, profitability, and cost efficiency to senior management.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage cash flow related to shipping operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and working capital requirements.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise junior accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices in shipping finance.
