  • Prepare and develop arrangement and detail conceptual, FEED, studies, and detail design drawings of high technical quality and professional consistent presentation ensuring clarity and ease of construction.
  • Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free with other disciplines.
  • Ensure design deliverables are completed and issued per project specifications, MDR, and project Level 2 & 3 procedures, and within agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Apply knowledge and/or skills to a range of activities.
  • Set priorities, organize own work and time to meet objectives, and (as a Lead Designer) forecast and plan resource requirements.
  • Become fully familiar with the project scope of work, specification, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; identify concerns as early as practicable and take the appropriate initiative to address the issue.
  • Identify changes to the scope and promptly raise change notifications and provide any necessary supporting documentation and estimates.
  • Provide similar support for Variation Order.
  • Interface with all disciplines to develop a clash-free design.
  • Interface with other department to obtain input for Discipline design and drawing.
  • Liaise with other discipline support groups to ensure clearly defined interface, deliverables, and schedule are met.
  • Document substantive communication (communication that results in a significant decision or assignment of action) and forward copies to Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.
  • Assist Discipline Lead Designer in preparing estimates for proposal and job scope change, which include execution statement, work schedule, and manhour requirements, identify software requirements and any other project-specific requirement.
  • Raise technical queries to obtain missing information, clarify work scope, and maintain preferred Company procedure, specification, standard, practice, and operational requirement.
  • Participate in finalizing deliverable list and deliverable, ensure compliance with specification and functional integrity.
  • Review project schedule and fabrication schedule in relation to construction sequence, milestone, and design scope.
  • Attend project kickoff and review meeting, vendor/supplier meeting, engineering and design meeting, and offshore site survey, as required.
  • Research customer standards and procedures to prepare project-specific design procedures and standards for submission to the Customer for approval.
  • Set up and maintain the Discipline Master design drawing and document files.
  • Develop and maintain the project job book.
  • Prepare and review discipline deliverables such as:
  • 3D model.
  • Detailed design drawing.
  • Develop conceptual layouts based on experience and good offshore engineering practice & develop these through detailed design.
  • Assist the lead designer to supervise in the preparation of key discipline drawing.
  • Liaise with the Engineer responsible for the timely expediting of Vendor Data to efficiently progress the project according to schedule requirement.
  • Review drawings issued by other disciplines and incorporate the required data into Discipline drawing.
  • Review vendor drawings and documents and incorporate required vendor data into discipline drawings and document.
  • Assist in providing necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enable them to proceed with their deliverable.
  • Generate IDC design documentation for the project.
  • Perform design verification through single discipline checks (SDC)and/or inter-discipline checks (ID), provide comments to Lead Designer.
  • Review all project IDC design documentation for detailed technical interface.
  • Maintain single discipline and inter-discipline check drawings and filing, that include final archiving.
  • Assist fabrication as required in the resolution of construction difficulties relating to design, problems, clash, etc.
  • Monitor progress and maintain the deliverables register on an ongoing basis.
  • Ensure compliance with the project execution plan and the timely completion and archive of drawings and document.
  • Keep the Discipline Supervisor/Engineering Manager apprised of all activity and concerns, technical, budgetary, and manpower related.
  • Assist in providing inputs for actual, plan, and forecast progress report that include associated productivity.
  • Prepare forecast schedule of delayed deliverables.
  • Advise the Lead Designer and Design Supervisor/Engineering Manager of problem areas and/or manpower concern.
  • Report any error and suggest a resolution for the same.
  • Participate in design review and audit.
  • Highlight knowledge concepts and ensure learning is entered into the system.
  • Act as a technical resource to others in their own discipline.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to others.
  • Assist in the maintenance of departmental technical guidelines and standards.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of Global Procedures, Software, Guidelines, and Standards.
  • Incorporate approved lessons learned into level 2&3 drafting procedures and standards, as applicable.
  • Develop an understanding of the business and process.
  • Identify and provide training to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software.
  • Assist the Department Manager in identifying departmental needs including the development of personnel and technical capability.
  • Participate in forums and represent the company as subject matter expert (SME).
  • Provide information on employee performance to the Discipline Supervisor/Engineering Manager.
  • Assist discipline supervisor/engineering manager in interviewing a job applicant.
  • Participate in the clash resolution meeting, as required.
  • Travel to the fabrication yard or offshore to assist in mechanical completion, hookup, and/or commissioning, as required.
