Reports To: Store Supervisor / Warehouse Manager
Job Summary:
The Storeman is responsible for the efficient management of goods and materials within the warehouse or storage area. This includes receiving, storing, and dispatching items accurately and safely, maintaining inventory records, and ensuring the cleanliness and organization of the storage space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and record incoming shipments of goods and materials.
- Unload and organize items in the appropriate storage locations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and update stock levels regularly.
- Pick, pack, and prepare goods for delivery or dispatch.
- Monitor stock levels and report low inventory or discrepancies.
- Ensure all stored items are clearly labeled and stored safely.
- Assist in regular stock-taking and cycle counts.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the store/warehouse area.
- Follow health, safety, and security protocols in the storage area.
- Operate handling equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks, if required and certified.
- Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, and other departments as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of inventory software and systems.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
