The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive structural inspection services for the Dubai Metro.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out structural inspection activities in stations, tunnels, elevated viaducts, bridges and office buildings, depots, sub-stations and ancillary buildings.
- Conduct routine structural surveys, identify any evidences of structural deterioration, movement or deformation, verify quality construction on all structural concrete, evaluating their impact to the integrity of the structure, notifying Building & Structure Inspection Engineer of any problem of structural significant and making work recommendations and schedule for repairs.
- Conducts condition survey for any renovation and upgrade, investigated loading requirements and strength of concrete, mapped exiting cracked concrete, testing existing steel rivets and high strength bolts, and performed corrosion studies on the structural steel members and connections.
- Sourcing and approving all materials and construction maintenance activities as they pertained to the finished quality standards.
- Follow the appropriate maintenance procedures and work instructions to ensure compliance with the requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records of structural inspection activities, reports of structural inspection and analysis, work accomplished and other information using a computerised maintenance management system.
- Assist the Building & Structure Inspection Engineer or other technical support staff to implement complex systems or new projects.
- Ensure the maintenance tools and equipment are in good condition.
- Perform shift and emergency duties when required.
- Drive work vehicles when responding to emergencies and when required on duty;
- Attend all safety related training courses or refresher training courses as required.
- Perform and carry out duties as instructed/ directed by the Building & Structure Inspection Engineer and other senior building & structure maintenance staff.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Working knowledge of the strength of reinforced concrete, structural masonry and structural steel inspections, foundation testing, and corrosion studies.
KEY SKILLS
- Ability to use and calibrate various electronic test equipment and computer for the structural inspection activities.
- Ability to write simple technical reports, routine business correspondence, prepare method statements and drawings as required.
- Possess good communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Must have good eyesight and normal colour vision.
- Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Holder of a valid UAE driving license with a good driving skill and experience.
