We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Engineer to oversee the
maintenance operations within our Aluminium recycling plant. This role is critical to ensuring the proper
functioning of all plant equipment, including forklifts, generators, and other mechanical and electrical
systems. The Maintenance Engineer will lead a team of technicians, develop and implement
maintenance schedules, troubleshoot equipment issues, and ensure compliance with safety and
regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial maintenance,
particularly in a heavy manufacturing or recycling environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance: Oversee and manage the regular maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including forklifts, generators, conveyors, shredders, and other machinery essential to the Aluminium recycling process.
- Team Leadership: Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring proper training, performance, and adherence to safety standards. Provide guidance and hands-on support when necessary.
- Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of all equipment. Monitor the execution of preventive maintenance tasks and adjust schedules based on performance metrics.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Quickly diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and operational issues with forklifts, generators, and other equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Inventory and Procurement: Manage the maintenance inventory, including spare parts, tools, and consumables. Collaborate with procurement to ensure that necessary materials and parts are always available to reduce downtime.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance work is performed in compliance with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety by enforcing safe work practices, conducting safety audits, and addressing safety hazards promptly.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, preventive maintenance logs, and equipment performance reports. Generate regular reports for plant management, highlighting key metrics, ongoing issues, and improvement initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions that enhance the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant operations. Stay up to date with the latest technological advancements in industrial equipment and maintenance practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field preferred. Alternatively, a combination of relevant certifications and extensive experience in industrial maintenance may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing, recycling, or heavy industrial environment. Experience with forklifts, generators, and heavy machinery is highly preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Strong knowledge in the repair works of diesel generators, forklifts, boomloader, industrial motors etc.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and diagnosing equipment failures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Experience with Microsoft Office computer packages.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in a manufacturing environment.
