- Clean surfaces by removing dirt, rust, old paint, and other contaminants using sandblasting equipment.
- Prepare surfaces for coating or finishing by ensuring they are smooth and free of imperfections.
- Operate sandblasting machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Select appropriate blasting media (e.g. sand, glass beads, garnet) based on the material and desired finish.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, goggles, and protective clothing.
- Conduct regular safety checks on blasting equipment and work areas.
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
- Identify defects and determine necessary adjustments or remediation.
- Perform routine maintenance on sandblasting equipment to ensure efficiency and longevity.
- Work closely with other team members, including painters, fabricators, and supervisors, to coordinate projects and timelines.
- Ensure the work area is clean and free of debris after sandblasting work is completed.
