We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fibre Optic Technician to join our team. The role involves installation, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fibre optic cables and related equipment. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, splice, terminate, and test fibre optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode).Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing for verification and troubleshooting.Perform maintenance and repairs on existing fibre optic infrastructure.Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work orders.Ensure proper cable management, labeling, and documentation of installations.Identify, diagnose, and resolve fibre connectivity issues efficiently.Adhere to safety standards and company policies at all times.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to complete tasks within deadlines.Prepare detailed reports on work completed, including test results and field notes.RequirementsProven experience as a Fibre Optic Technician or in a related telecommunications role.Strong knowledge of fibre optic systems, cabling standards, and splicing techniques.Proficiency in using fibre testing tools (OTDR, fusion splicer, power meter, VFL, etc.).Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Good problem-solving and communication skills.Physical ability to work in various environments (indoor/outdoor, confined spaces, heights).Valid driver’s license (preferred).Certifications such as FOA, CFOT, or vendor-specific training (advantage).Preferred QualificationsExperience in structured cabling, ELV systems, or telecom projects.Knowledge of health and safety regulations.Familiarity with construction site practices and documentation.BenefitsCompetitive salary and overtime opportunities.Training and professional development.Health and safety coverage.Career growth opportunities within the organization.
