Planning Engineer
Job Purpose:To develop, monitor, and control project schedules for building construction projects, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and timely completion of works in line with contractual obligations, company policies, and client requirements.Key Responsibilities:Project Planning & SchedulingDevelop baseline project schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project.Prepare detailed work breakdown structures (WBS), activity coding, and logic sequences.Identify critical path and milestones for timely project execution.Monitor, update, and revise schedules as per site progress and changes.Progress Monitoring & ReportingTrack and report project progress against the baseline schedule.Analyze variances and delays, providing recovery plans and corrective actions.Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for management and clients.Prepare dashboards and S-curves for progress visualization.Resource & Cost PlanningCoordinate with project teams to forecast manpower, equipment, and material requirements.Integrate cost and resource data with the schedule for earned value management (EVM).Monitor productivity and efficiency to ensure cost-effective operations.Coordination & CommunicationWork closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to align schedules.Attend progress and coordination meetings with stakeholders.Highlight potential risks, delays, and recommend mitigation measures.Claims & Extension of Time (EOT)Assist in the preparation of claims, extension of time (EOT) submissions, and delay analysis.Provide detailed records of delays and disruption events.Compliance & DocumentationEnsure project schedules comply with contract requirements and company standards.Maintain updated planning records, logs, and correspondence.
