KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: what are the overall accountabilities for this position
An AC technician in a facilities management company is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning systems. This includes conducting regular inspections to ensure systems are functioning efficiently, diagnosing and addressing issues such as refrigerant leaks or electrical problems, and performing necessary repairs or replacements of components. The technician must also ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards, maintain accurate service records, and communicate effectively with facility managers to provide updates and recommendations for system improvements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: day to day activities
System Installation and Setup: As an AC Technician, one of your primary responsibilities is to install and set up air conditioning systems. This includes ensuring that all components are correctly installed, testing systems for proper operation, and making adjustments to optimize performance according to manufacturer specifications and building requirements.
Maintenance and Repairs: You are responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of air conditioning systems. This involves conducting regular inspections, diagnosing faults, repairing or replacing faulty components, and performing system tune-ups to maintain efficiency and extend the lifespan of the equipment.
Compliance with Regulations: Adhering to safety and environmental regulations is critical. You need to ensure that all AC systems are compliant with local, state, and federal codes, including handling refrigerants responsibly and implementing necessary safety measures during installations and repairs.
System Diagnostics: Diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues is a key aspect of the role. This includes identifying problems with electrical components, refrigerant levels, and mechanical parts, and providing effective solutions to restore systems to optimal functionality.
Customer Communication: Effective communication with clients and facility managers is essential. You will be responsible for explaining issues, recommending solutions, providing updates on repair status, and ensuring that customer concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Preventive Maintenance: Implementing and overseeing preventive maintenance schedules is important to avoid unexpected system failures. This includes performing regular checks, cleaning components, and making adjustments to prevent breakdowns and ensure efficient operation.
Documentation and Reporting: Accurate record-keeping is crucial. You will need to maintain detailed service records, including inspection results, repairs performed, and parts replaced. This documentation supports warranty claims, compliance audits, and future service planning.
Emergency Response: In the event of system failures or urgent repair needs, you must respond promptly to minimize downtime. This involves assessing the situation, providing temporary fixes if necessary, and coordinating repairs to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
Training and Development: Staying current with industry developments and technology is important. You may be involved in ongoing training to enhance your skills, keep up with new AC technologies, and implement best practices in your service delivery.
Quality Assurance: Ensuring high standards of service quality is essential. This includes reviewing your work to confirm that repairs and installations meet industry standards and customer expectations, and implementing corrective measures if issues are identified.
