KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: what are the overall accountabilities for this position
An ELV (Extra Low Voltage) Technician in a facilities management company is accountable for the installation, maintenance, and repair of extra low voltage systems, including but not limited to security systems, CCTV, access control, fire alarm systems, and building automation systems. This involves diagnosing and troubleshooting issues within these systems, ensuring they operate effectively and meet safety and performance standards. The technician must adhere to relevant safety regulations and industry standards during all work, maintain accurate records of service activities, and respond swiftly to emergency repair requests to minimize disruptions. Additionally, the ELV Technician is responsible for coordinating with other facility staff to integrate ELV systems with overall building operations and providing clear communication to clients and stakeholders regarding system performance and issues.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: day to day activities
ELV System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and servicing of extra low voltage systems, including security systems, CCTV, access control, fire alarm systems, and building automation systems.
Fault Diagnosis and Repair: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with ELV systems to ensure reliable operation and compliance with safety standards.
Installation and Upgrades: Install, configure, and upgrade ELV systems and components according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all ELV system work complies with relevant safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards to maintain safe and effective operation.
Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency repair needs for ELV systems to minimize system downtime and address urgent issues effectively.
Health and Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety protocols during all ELV system maintenance and repair activities to ensure a safe working environment.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all ELV system maintenance, repairs, and installations, including detailed service logs and inspection reports.
Coordination with Team Members: Collaborate with other facility staff and trades to schedule ELV maintenance activities and ensure smooth integration with overall facility operations.
Client and Stakeholder Communication: Communicate clearly with clients and facility stakeholders regarding ELV system performance, issues, and solutions to meet their needs effectively.
Resource Management: Manage tools, equipment, and materials efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and minimizing waste.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry advancements, new technologies, and best practices related to ELV systems to enhance skills and knowledge.
