AquaChemie is seeking an experienced Chemist in Doha, QATAR to support the formulation, development, and optimization of specialty chemicals for the oil and gas upstream & midstream sector in Qatar. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, testing, and improving chemical formulations to enhance production efficiency, flow assurance, and asset integrity in oilfield applications.Key Responsibilities:1. Chemical Formulation & Development:Develop and optimize specialty chemical formulations for upstream and midstream applications, including: Demulsifiers Corrosion inhibitors Scale inhibitors Paraffin & asphaltene dispersants Biocides & oxygen scavengers Drag reducers and other oilfield treatment solutionsConduct laboratory testing, pilot studies, and field trials to validate chemical performance.Evaluate and modify existing formulations to improve efficiency, stability, and cost-effectiveness.2. Product Testing & Quality Control:Perform compatibility tests of chemicals with crude oil, water, and other process fluids.Ensure compliance with industry standards (API, ASTM, NACE, etc.) and client requirements.Conduct failure analysis and troubleshooting of chemical performance issues.Work closely with production and QC teams to maintain product consistency and reliability.3. Technical Support & Customer Engagement:Provide technical expertise to sales and business development teams for customer consultations.Assist in onsite troubleshooting and performance evaluation of specialty chemicals.Collaborate with clients to identify and address operational challenges through chemical solutions.4. Research & Innovation:Stay updated with advancements in oilfield chemistry and emerging technologies.Conduct research on new raw materials and alternative formulations for better efficiency and sustainability.Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and contribute to R&D reports and technical papers.5. HSE & Compliance:Follow strict Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) guidelines in laboratory and field operations.Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical materials as per regulatory norms.

The SSHEQ Superintendent will be responsible for leading and implementing the Safety, Security, Health, Environment, and Quality (SSHEQ) programs at AquaChemie’s chemical terminal in Dubai. This role ensures compliance with all relevant local and international regulations, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives continuous improvement in operational safety, environmental sustainability, and quality standards.1. Safety, Security & Health Management:Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, OSHAD, ADNOC, DM, EHS Trakhees, ISO 45001, and OSHA standards.Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and hazard analysis (HAZOP, HAZID, JSA, LOPA) for terminal operations.Implement and enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, and Work at Height procedures.Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation for accidents, near-misses, and safety violations.Oversee occupational health and hygiene programs, ensuring safe handling of hazardous chemicals and compliance with COSHH and MSDS requirements.Develop and conduct SSHEQ training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.Ensure emergency preparedness by conducting drills for fire, chemical spills, and medical emergencies in coordination with civil defense and authorities.2. Environmental & Sustainability Compliance:Monitor compliance with ISO 14001, local environmental laws, and sustainability best practices.Oversee hazardous waste management, emissions control, effluent treatment, and spill response measures.Ensure effective implementation of waste reduction, energy conservation, and water management initiatives at the terminal.3. Quality & Operational Excellence:Maintain adherence to ISO 9001, API, and other quality management system (QMS) requirements.Ensure proper handling, storage, and transportation of chemicals as per IMDG, ADR, and NFPA standards.Conduct regular terminal audits, inspections, and compliance checks.Work closely with the operations, maintenance, and logistics teams to ensure best SSHEQ practices in daily operations.4. Security & Regulatory Compliance:Ensure compliance with ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code), Dubai Municipality EHS, and other security protocols for the terminal.Oversee access control, CCTV monitoring, and emergency response coordination.Act as the point of contact for local authorities, auditors, and regulatory agencies for SSHEQ compliance matters.5. Leadership & Continuous Improvement:Promote a strong safety-first culture among employees and contractors.Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and behavior-based safety (BBS) initiatives.Identify and implement SSHEQ improvement projects to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.Prepare SSHEQ performance reports, KPI tracking, and management presentations.
