The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing general accounting operations,
ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with
accounting principles and company policies. This role involves preparing financial
statements, managing account reconciliations, and supporting audits.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting:
○ Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
○ Prepare and maintain general ledger accounts, journal entries, and financial
records.
○ Ensure compliance with Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS) and generally
accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
○ Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
○ Assist with the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and variance
analysis.
2. Account Reconciliation:
○ Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank accounts, general
ledger accounts, and balance sheets.
○ Investigate and resolve discrepancies in account balances.
3. General Ledger Maintenance:
○ Ensure the accuracy and completeness of general ledger entries.
○ Review and approve journal entries prepared by junior accountants.
○ Maintain and update fixed asset schedules.
4. Audit Support:
○ Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial and compliance
audits.
○ Prepare audit schedules, provide requested information, and respond to
auditor inquiries.
○ Implement and maintain internal control processes.
5. Tax Compliance:
○ Handle GST filing, TDS calculation, and timely submission of tax returns.
○ Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including income tax, GST,
and other applicable laws.
○ Coordinate with external auditors and government authorities as needed.
6. Process Improvement:
○ Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve
efficiency.
○ Support the implementation of new accounting systems or software upgrades.
