The Precontracting Engineer will work within the Tendering team, contributing significantly to various project teams. This role is essential in the precontract phase, where the engineer will develop detailed plans, strategies, and methodologies to provide planning and estimating advice for successful bid preparation and project execution.Key responsibilities include collaborating with Estimating and Project teams to enhance project constructability by defining logistics plans, construction methodologies, phasing of construction, and applying Value Engineering principles. Additionally, the Precontracting Engineer will actively participate in the development of the construction program during the tender stage.Conduct feasibility studies to assess various construction methods, techniques, and approaches, ensuring that project goals are achieved efficiently and cost-effectively.Conduct constructability reviews to evaluate the buildability of the project design, identifying potential conflicts, coordination issues, and constructability challenges that may require resolution.Prepare detailed method statements that outline the step-by-step procedures, techniques, and resources required to ensure safe and efficient project execution. These statements will serve as guides for construction teams during the execution phase.Develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and sequences, including determining the optimal sequence of activities, resource allocation, and critical path analysis, to ensure timely project completion.Address environmental factors and develop strategies to minimize the project's environmental impact, including waste management, pollution prevention, and sustainable construction practices.Propose value engineering solutions to optimize project costs while maintaining or improving project quality. This involves identifying cost-saving opportunities through alternative materials, construction methods, or design modifications that align with the client's requirements.Conduct risk assessments to identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project. This includes analysing site conditions, environmental factors, regulatory requirements, and other external influences that may impact project delivery.Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals for tender submissions. This includes clearly outlining the proposed construction methodology, schedule, resource allocation, and other technical details to showcase the bidder's capability to execute the project successfully.
